You, and the Power of the World

Recent Developments

There have been many recent and exciting developments in the world of eDoorways, especially pertaining to the Beta v1.0 version of Solve on December 25, 2009. The eDoorways SOLVE door is the no-wait solution provider that rapidly brings you to the most relevant answer for any question you have.

Solve has been designed to create a seamless user experience between the user's desktop and their mobile experience. The Solve dashboard is configured with elements of HVGA screen displays so that it can be easily navigated without loss of functionality on a mobile device. In fact, the ability of the site to demonstrate relevance is heightened by virtue of GPS integration into the search criteria.

 Solve 2.0-2.7 Early Release

We are anticipating being able to launch the next version of Solve Beta v2.0 in late February of 2010. It will be complete with increased functionality and enhanced features that were not previously in Beta v1.0. We are giving you a preview of some of these features, along with features to be found in future releases up to 2.7, to allow you to know more about the eDoorways vision and how we foresee the evolution of Solve.

Dashboard Screen Shot

In the Beta v1.0 version of eDoorways, you need to be online for someone to find you in their search results. In the next version, Solution Providers who are offline will be able to show up in the search results and get “pinged” via email or text that someone has asked a question related to their PowerKeys. That Solution Provider can then log in to eDoorways and join the Conversation.

 Enhanced Dashboard

The Solve dashboard has many new features and enhancements to what you see now on www.edoorways.com. A big change is the move from a grid-like search results screen to the new Search Spiral which allows users to swipe through the results (cover-flow style) and retrieve both relevant web results, documents and person to person connectivity. The Search Spiral also has a Document Tray located in proximity to drag and drop articles and documents in to for later review. Another new feature on the dashboard is the addition of the Media Exchange screen. The Media Exchange allows users to view media including video, images, documents and websites right within mini-browsers located inside of the Solve platform- no need to toggle between tabs and browser windows to view relevant media needed to help solve questions. You may also Upload and Share any of the content in the Media Exchange by sending it directly to any of your contacts or publishing it on another one of your favorite Social Media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook.

In addition, any screen may be expanded and take up more viewable space in the browser window. Likewise, you may also close or minimize the screens to suit your particular preference during use.

 Top Menu Functionality

You'll see in the top menu bar that we've added the ability to maintain Contacts. You may add existing Contacts and keep track of people you meet within the Solve arena. We've also added Conversations, Settings, and History. Settings allows you to record your preferences such as alerts, search radius, privacy, and visibility. Conversations is a new feature we are particularly excited about. Since in this updated version of Solve you will now be able to contact users who are not currently online, Conversations will record any direct messages exchanged, as well as any chat activity that occurs in respect to the original question asked. In Conversations, you have the ability to track every chat you join into and every question you Ask by maintaining an open string of chats and direct messages related to that question. This also keeps the group or pod of individuals involved in that Conversation intact. Once the question has been determined as "Solved" by the initiator, the Conversation will be closed and viewable in your History.

 Join in and Chat

The process of Joining a chat has also been enhanced in this release. The Join screen displays a live stream of recently asked questions that will now only be related to your PowerKeys. If you are not registered as a Solution Provider and do not currently subscribe to PowerKeys, the Join screen will display recent activity related to the question you submitted in the Ask search bar. Any user may see these questions as a beginning to a new Conversation they wish to have and can request to Join in a chat by selecting the chat and extending a Handshake. Upon receiving a Handshake, the user may review their profile and choose to accept the chat. In the Join screen you may also see a Conversation starting and choose to refer it to another one of your Contacts. The Chat screen will still handle multi-user chats and will now allow document references from the Media Exchange. The Chat screen also has a Socialize This function which will invite others to view your Conversation and solicit them to interact with you and your group by sending them a link to the chat or by posting it to one of your Social Media sites.

 PowerKeys

A few versions down the road we’ll introduce the function of paying for PowerKeys. The model for PowerKeys is not like Google keywords for an Adwords campaign. Google keywords are charged on a Pay Per Click method and you are charged every time someone clicks on your ad that contains the keyword you’ve bid on. In the initial version of eDoorways, Beta v1.0, PowerKeys are free to use so that everyone can start to get a feel for how they work.

PowerKeys are rented for a flat monthly fee that will stay constant for a period of 6 months up to one year. For example, if you buy the PowerKey “kites” for a year at $2 a month, people can search for “kites” and initiate conversations with you 100’s of times a month and you’ll only be charged $2. If the PowerKey “kites” turns out to be a very popular PowerKey, meaning lots of people purchase the PowerKey "kites", the price may increase over time. If the price increases to $4 a month during the first year you lease the PowerKey, you still only pay $2 a month until the end of the year.

 Evolution of Solve

Solve Beta v1.0 is in mere infancy and is the beginning of a family of doorways to come that promises to be just as exciting to watch grow and develop. Please keep in mind, this preview is Beta and we expect to have many updates, improvements, and additional releases (including versions 2.0, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7 and 3.0) prior to removing the Beta tag from our application.
